Shieldie Mail is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your emails are yours — we never read, store, or sell your data.
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how Shieldie ("we", "us", "our") handles information in connection with the Shieldie Mail desktop application ("the App") and the website mail.shieldie.ai ("the Website"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
Shieldie Mail is a desktop email client that connects directly to your email provider. We want to be clear about what we do not do:
- We do not read, access, or store your emails
- We do not store your email credentials on our servers
- We do not route your emails through our infrastructure
- We do not sell, share, or monetize any personal data
- We do not track your email activity or reading habits
3. How the App Works
Shieldie Mail connects directly to your email provider using standard IMAP and SMTP protocols. Your credentials are stored locally on your device in encrypted form. All email synchronization happens directly between your computer and your email provider — our servers are never involved in this process.
4. AI Threat Scanning
Shieldie Mail includes an AI-powered threat scanning feature that analyzes emails for phishing, malware, and suspicious content. Here is how it works:
- Scan requests are sent to the Shieldie AI API for analysis
- Only email metadata and content necessary for threat analysis is transmitted
- Scanned data is processed in real time and not stored after analysis is complete
- Scan results are stored locally on your device only
- You can disable threat scanning at any time in the App settings
5. Website Data
The Website (mail.shieldie.ai) is a static landing page. We do not use cookies, tracking pixels, analytics services, or any third-party scripts. No personal data is collected when you visit the Website.
6. Data Stored on Your Device
The App stores the following data locally on your computer:
- Email account configuration and encrypted credentials
- Cached emails and attachments for offline access
- Threat scan results and history
- Application preferences and settings
This data remains entirely under your control. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.
7. Third Parties
Shieldie Mail does not share any data with third parties. The only external connections the App makes are:
- Your email provider (IMAP/SMTP) — to sync your emails
- Shieldie AI API — for threat scanning (if enabled)
- Update server — to check for and download App updates
8. Security
We take security seriously:
- All connections use TLS encryption
- Credentials are stored using OS-level secure storage (Keychain on macOS, Secret Service on Linux, Credential Manager on Windows)
- The App does not include any telemetry or analytics code
9. Children's Privacy
Shieldie Mail is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
